Powerful tornadoes strike Oklahoma

A massive storm front swept north through the central United States late Sunday including a half-mile wide twister that struck near Oklahoma City.

News reports say at least one person had died and more than a dozen injured.

Hundreds of homes and buildings were damaged or destroyed.

(SOUNDBITE)(English) MARY JANE KAISER, LOST HOME TO TORNADO, SAYING:

"We lost everything, everything is gone. I guess they found some pots and pans and a few pictures and I have some pictures in a closet in there that are OK (EDIT) we get to start over."

More than two dozen tornadoes were spotted in Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas and Illinois

Oklahoma Governor's has declared 16 counties disaster areas.
