COVID-19 continues to spread in metropolitan areas, specially among community groups.
Our Hong Yoo reports on the latest COVID-19 cases in South Korea.
COVID-19 transmissions from religious circles continue to accumulate in South Korea's metropolitan areas.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Saturday that 7 new cases from a church in Seoul have been confirmed,…bringing the total number of cases from the Wangsung Church to 19.
But more cases could derive from this church as over 1-thousand-700 people attend its services.
And among those diagnosed with the new respiratory disease is a high school teacher and a hotel employee who came into contact with many people at work.
As cluster infections within churches continue, the government has urged people to take extra precautions.
"Gatherings for religious purposes could be vulnerable to COVID-19 transmission via saliva as they involve talking, singing and eating together. So please cancel or postpone the gatherings, or make it a virtual gathering."
The government has also asked people to maintain a safe distance between one another during services.
Newly confirmed cases from recent overseas arrivals are increasing as well.
During the past two weeks, 32-point-8 percent of newly confirmed cases have been imported.
20 cases from overseas arrivals on Saturday include 10 from Kirgizstan, followed by 3 from Europe, 2 each from Kazakhstan and Iraq, and one each from the U.S., UAE, and Afghanistan.
South Korea's total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 12-thousand-653, with 51 cases confirmed on Saturday.
